• Midge Jumpsuit Set Review [Collectif Clothing]

I’ve been waiting for months for this beauty to drop onto the website so as soon as I saw it was finally released, I bagged it immediately! It arrived the very next day and was just as gorgeous as I’d hoped.

The aptly named Midge Jumpsuit Set comprises a black jumpsuit with capri trousers and removable overlay skirt. It is very Midge (from The Marvellous Mrs Maisel – who else was obsessed with that show?!) being both a classic design and super elegant. The design also echoes the chicest of them all, Grace Kelly, in To Catch A Thief.

I love the monochrome palette. I don’t really wear black during summer time but the light skirt really lifts it – though even on its own, the jumpsuit with its sleeveless halterneck style makes it a great option for warmer weather.

The halter-neck fastens at the back with two poppers and there’s a centre back zip on the jumpsuit with a hook and eye above it.

The neck and shoulder lines on this jumpsuit give such a chic overall look and there are princess seams to the bodice for a tailored and fitted finish.

As a jumpsuit on its own, it works really well too.

The leg length fits well for me, though I am petite and it’s meant to be a cropped capri length, so it will be shorter on taller gals.

Straight on, it gives a lovely line and the waist sits well for that vintage feel.

The skirt is listed as white but it’s more of an off white. It has a black waistband to match the jumpsuit and ties at the front (or back or side if you prefer) to reveal the jumpsuit underneath. It’s a really versatile piece as you can wear it over lots of other outfits too (I’ll pop it over a playsuit).

I love how you can flash a little jumpsuit and swoosh around in the open skirt.

When the skirt is closed it looks more like this:

The skirt fastens with a tie which I chose to make into a bow at the front.

Size wise, the guidance on the website suggests you size down if you’re in between sizes. I bought my normal size (as there isn’t a size down) and I’m not in between sizes but I definitely would have sized down in this if I could have as it is a little too big around the sides which I’ll run down on the machine. So I would recommend sizing down for this one whether you’re in between sizes or not. There’s some stretch in the fabric too. It has quite a long rise so would be good for average/taller girls as well.

I absolutely love this set. It’s so reminiscent of 50s fashion and I feel like I’ve stepped out of Mrs Maisel’s or Grace Kelly’s set. It’s currently available in all sizes (6-22) and it’s £89 which is really reasonable for a skirt and jumpsuit combo. Until midnight tonight (26th July) you can also use code JULY10 to get £10 off at Collectif Clothing. Fingers crossed for more Maisel and Kelly inspired designs appearing in the coming seasons!

  • Giordana Gingham Dress Review [Collectif Clothing]

You all know by now that I go a bit gaga for gingham and the gorgeous Giordana is no exception! With its large black and white print and bardot neck, I was smitten!

The fabric is the super light and made from viscose making it perfect for all your upcoming Summer soirées! Don’t expect it to be a heavy fabric as it is very thin – which suits me as I want to wear something as light as possible in the heat of Summer!

The neckline is unique as it’s one piece and the shoulders are hand tied into bows. When untied, the top half of the dress is in two pieces. I was a little bewildered by this at first, but then realised it’s actually a great feature as you can tie them as tight or as loose as you need to, making it fit for all body types and there’s plenty of room for those blessed up top. There’s also a side zip for ease of getting in and out.

    That neckline is just scrummy!

I really love the way you can change the neckline and chose to wore it higher on one side and lower on the other which I felt right for me as it’s the way I usually wear things with a wide neck. You can wear it straight across too if you wish.

There’s a full swing skirt to the bottom, with pockets, woohoo! I did try a petticoat on underneath as there’s plenty of room for one, but prefer it without personally.

    Feelin’ cute amidst the blossoms

It comes with a black belt which has holes (hurrah!) and fits below the knee. Obviously on me it’s at my calf but that’s my preferred length for vintage dresses, so it works for me. Size wise, this comes up pretty true to size though roomy in the bust area.

I was delighted to get this dress out on such a sunny day and it was perfect, keeping me cool but glamorous. I can’t wait to wear it more this year!

The Giordana is available in sizes 8-22 at £59.00 from the Collectif website.

    For reference:

I’m wearing a size 6 in the photos above, and I’m 4’11” with 4.5 inch heels.

  • Collectif Emery Dress Review

This divine, blue satin, gown dropped into the Spring/Summer collection recently and it is such a pretty dress; I knew it would be perfect for a wedding I’ll be attending this summer so snapped it up.

It features a bardot crossover neckline with fold over vintage styling to the collar which wraps all the way around. The skirt hangs beautifully with the box pleats, though I’ve also added a petticoat underneath mine too for extra fullness (I will steam it, I just couldn’t wait to try it!).

The bodice is boned giving it great structure and there are rubbery strips on the inside of the dress which keep this gorgeous dress firmly in place. The bust is padded which is an awesome feature for anyone wanting to go braless. I  wore mine with a strapless bra though.

Here’s the view from the back – I love the sweeping v shaped detail on the collar line.

Fit wise, I found it quite roomy in the bust area and will need to make some small adjustments. If you’re busty, this won’t be a problem! The waist was true to size and the length was a perfect vintage cut on my calf.

I highly recommend the Emery dress for any summer occasion you have coming up. It would look fantastic at a prom or swing dance too!

It’s available in sizes 6-22 and is dry clean only – so no testing it in the washing machine, lovelies! Have fun being twirled around in this amazing frock!

For reference, I’m a true size 6 (33:24:33) and bought the 6. I’m 4’11” and wore 4 inch heels in the photo.
